Bushwalking: Mount Talaterang

After getting picked up at 5AM on Saturday morning by walk leader John we made the 3 hour trip to the Mount Bushwalker carpark in the Morton National Park / Budawang Wilderness. I was alone this time, without my wife Ella, who is still recovering from a self-inflicted foot injury (she really should stop kicking the furniture).

Bushwalking Food

I've been thinking and reading a lot about bushwalking food lately. Rather than just taking whatever feels right (light weight and decent feed mainly) actually making a conscious effort to think about how much energy a food provides for a given weight. The next bushwalk I'm planning on going on is to the Budawangs on 13-14 May, and I wanted to try and experiment a bit with different food - we have been taking pretty much the same stuff on every walk so far so it's time for a change.

Bushwalking

Ella and I are keen bushwalkers, even if we don't get out as often as we should - especially not in the last 4 months with our wedding and Ella's family coming here. I've started reminiscing again about the good old days..

Another Bushwalk..

On Saturday we went on a bushwalk to the Royal National Park, about 45 minutes south of the centre of Sydney by train. It was a nice day for a walk, although quite warm - probably close to 30 degrees celsius. It was with the Sydney Bushwalkers bushwalking club that we are members of. The walk itself was quite long, 25KM according to my GPS, and covered some varied terrain. There were some really nice bits, the various pools and waterfalls we came across, and the part where you're walking along the cliffline on the Ocean Track. A fair bit of the walk wasn't as interesting - such as a 2KM "road bash", or the bits where you're up on an exposed plateau with nothing much to look at.

I've documented this walk in various formats (well, two) as an experiment. I will probably start doing this for my walks from now.

I might look into linking to the Flickr photos from Google Earth instead, and uploading that file too.
