Erection 2003

At the moment, I am driving my mum's car. Well, not RIGHT now, of course. But when I drive, it is my mum's car.

Now, my mum's car currently has a problem with its carburettor, which has been partially fixed. It had no power, and tended to stall once the revs got below 2000. Since the carburettor service, it still stalls at low revs but it now has power.

My mum's car also has a little bit of an engine management computer. Nothing too fancy, of course, as it's not fuel injected, but the computer will do things like compensating for the drop in revs when the air conditioner is turned on, or if for some reason the engine tries to stall.

Point being, that if the car is at low revs, and wants to stall, the computer will rev the engine.. and NOW, the engine has quite a decent amount of power behind it when it does rev.

So today I drove down to the local public school to vote in the state election. I finalised my parking maneouvre, and as I held my foot on the brake and went to move the gear selector to park, the engine coughed and immediately revved.. Something for which my brake foot was not prepared, and the car jerked into the car in front, tapping its tow bar.

The driver of the other vehicle got out and had a quick glance at the back of his car, came up to my window and said "No worries, you just tapped my tow bar! No damage to either car!" .. after expressing my relief and apologising profusely, I checked the affected areas myself and made the same assessment. We exchanged smiles and went about our business.

As I approached the entrance of the school, there were many people handing out brochures and how to vote thingies and the fences were covered with advertisements, one of which was for the Labor candidate for Campbelltown (the electorate next to mine) and I thought "Wow, his face seems really familiar.."

So if you happen to be reading this and you're in the Campbelltown electorate, please vote for this poor man who had to suffer not only the indecency of being struck in his rear, but also of not being recognised upon presenting himself with regard to the incident.

Oh, it's after 6pm, the polls have closed. Nevermind, then.
